Health Level Seven, often known as HL7, is a group of worldwide standards for the exchange of clinical and administrative data throughout software programs used by different healthcare providers.
As “layer 7” in the OSI model, the application layer is the focus of these standards.
Other standard-setting organizations including the American National Standards Institute and the International Organization for Standardization have embraced the HL7 standards, which are created by Health Level Seven International, a global standards organization.
For information about HL7, please view guidance on this topic from Health Level Seven International.
